Tracy Thomas attends Academy of Television Arts & Sciences/Television Cares ceremony
December 1, 2007 (Hollywood, CA) Actress Tracy Thomas attended the Ribbon of Hope Awards' 11th annual ceremony presented by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, and Television Cares. The ceremony was taped tonight and will be televised on here! television network at a later date.
This annual event presents an important opportunity to renew awareness while addressing the complacency that currently hampers HIV/AIDS education, prevention and treatment efforts here and around the world. The Television Academy and Television Cares present the Ribbon of Hope Celebration to honor programming excellence in HIV/AIDS awareness, education and action. This year’s honorees include Lifetime's "Girl Positive", HBO’s "Life Support", TLC's "Ashley Judd & Youth AIDS", BET in association with The Kaiser Family Foundation’s "106th & Park: World AIDS Day Special", here! Networks "here! Focus on HIV/AIDS Special", and Showtime's "3 Needles". A Special Achievement Award will be presented to the independent PBS program "In The Life", for 15 years of excellence in documenting the pandemic. About Tracy Thomas
Canadian Tracy Thomas began her professional acting career at the age of nine. By eighteen, Tracy Thomas had become a very prominent young actress in the Canadian theatre scene and had gained critical acclaim for her stage performances in productions such as West Side Story, The Secret Garden, Anne of Green Gables, and Hamlet. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting from the University of Alberta: one of the best BFA Acting Programs in North America. Upon graduation, she went on to perform at the two largest repertory theatres in North America: The Stratford Festival and The Shaw Festival where she performed in Twelfth Night, Henry V, The Seagull, Caesar and Cleopatra, and Merrily We Roll Along. Tracy starred alongside Dan Aykroyd, Dave Foley, and Dave Thomas in the feature film “Intern Academy,” and with Daniel Baldwin and Leslie Hope in the feature film “Double Frame.” She's also had guest spots on Canadian hit series "Corner Gas" and "Mentors." Most recently, Tracy completed filming the award-winning short film "Loose Ends," directed by X Dean Lim (Fox's On The Lot).
